Niccolò
Ricci was born in Florence-Italy in 1972 where he lived and graduated
in Engineering. His fluency in languages brought him a desire to
travel and learn other cultures, he visited and lived in North and
South America, Europe and Asia.
In 2000 he moved to New York city where he worked for 3 years; there
he studied at the International Center of Photography.
In 2002
his first work appeared in the show “Life in the city” at the
Museum
of Modern Art.
Fascinated by New York he concentrates on capturing its unique essence
through his photography.
People are what interest him, intimacy of
people during day or night is what he documents. He portraits ordinary
people representing the energy felt in the streets of the city. |
Here is New York at the beginning of the Millennium.
In 2003 he moved back to his home town Florence, where in December he
exhibited the New York work at the
Biennale of Contemporary Art receiving an award for
photography.
Since 2004 he is represented by the oldest firm in the field of
photography Fratelli Alinari.
In 2004 he navigated the Rio Sao Francisco in Brazil for 1000 Km.
There he documented people living along the river in small villages,
sometimes lonely huts; very poor people but full of internal happiness
and richness.
In 2004 he exhibited his work of New York at Rose’s Art Gallery in
Florence. During the show one of the images of Coney Island got stolen.
In 2005 he documents the city of Amalfi in Italy. |
